Zane Landing Park
Nestled along the banks of the majestic Muskingum River, it is centrally located at the end of Market Street in downtown Zanesville. This park
consists of 6.5 acres, and is home to the Lorena Riverboat, the Bicentennial Statue, and the Eternal Flame. Many activities take place there, and a 2.9
mile bike trail connects this park with Riverside Park.
Riverside Park
On Lewis Drive, across from the City Water Pumping State, lies our much used and widely acclaimed Riverside Park. It is situated in the City Well
Fields on 122.62 acres of land. There are 6 soccer fields, 6 softball diamonds, 2 flag football fields, an 8-court horseshoe pitching area, basketball/tennis courts, fishing and boating access.
Putnam Landing Park
This park is in the south part of town at the end of the 6th street bridge on Muskingum Avenue. It has approximately 2.8 acres and recently received a NatureWorks Grant to build a boat dock that is handicapped accessible, a new launch ramp, and new park lighting, etc. for the local residents and visitors to the area.
Putnam Hill Park
Located off of Pine Street it consists of 18.5 acres and a scenic panoramic view of the City can be seen from its lookout area. There are family reunions, weddings, Easter Sunday services, and many more activities held there. A gazebo, barbecue pits, swing sets, a big slide, and basketball courts make it user friendly for all ages.
Innerskate Park
The Interskate Park is curently undergoing renovation.
¤ Major Responsibilities:
Parks & Recreation
Scheduling recreation events; staffulg playgrounds in the summer season; making sure the summer food program for children works; making sure adult programs work through out the winter months; organizing the Winterfest festival; collecting rental fees and lease fees; requesting summer food grant; scheduling the band wagon.
Parks Maintenance
Maintenance of city parks, playgrounds, bike trail; maintenance of Secrest Auditorium; maintenance of city owned game fields, soccer, softball, flag football at Riverside Park and Armco; snow removal on sidewalks around city owned buildings, parking lots and bike trail.
¤ Standard Services Provided:
Parks & Recreation
Schedule events such as basketball league, spring and fall soccer leagues, flag football, volleyball tournament, softball leagues and tournaments at Riverside and Armco ball diamonds; seeing that these events are down on time etc.; keeping track of park usage.
Parks Maintenance
Mow grass, pickup litter, mark playing field; repair playground equipment; clean Secrest Auditorium and set up for auditorium events. Deliver and pick up the bandwagon.
¤ Areas of Service Not Generally Known:
Training summer food service staff; liaison with community organizations requesting use of City park facilities.
